AYELEN PORTO
DRA. EN CS. BIOLOGICAS
LIC. EN BIOTECNOLOGIA

Ayelen Porto has graduated with a degree in Biotechnology at the Universidad Nacional del Litoral (UNL). She developed research activities related to molecular mechanisms of antibiotic resistance, and its dissemination in bacteria. She served as a assistant professor of the Department of Microbiology (Facultad de Bioquímica y Ciencias Biológicas-UNL) between 2005 and 2012.

In 2013, she obtained her PhD in Biological Sciences (UNL), being this project funded by the National Scientific and Technical Research Council (CONICET). Her doctoral thesis focused in epidemiology and molecular biology, studying the dissemination of resistance genes and characterization of the associated proteins. During this period, she gained skills in different methodologies regarding general microbiology, phenotypic method-use in antimicrobial resistance determinations, molecular biology, as well as in recombinant protein expression and purification.

Currently she is finishing a postgraduate study "Especialización en Ingeniería de Calidad" (Specialization in Quality Engineering) at Universidad Tecnológica Nacional (UTN), about quality management in industries, programming for quality control, quality cost, auditing, good manufacturing and laboratories practices and control of processes..

In Laboratorio Horian I+D, Ayelen is responsible for quality assurance, development and implementation of strategies and procedures to ensure the quality and also for the traceability of products, certification and continuous improvement of processes and systems.
